The player

Every book, right where you left it.

One app for the web, iPhone and iPad: a bookcase for the whole house, a seek bar built for 30-hour books, and the details filled in by a community database.

Live today in the web player of every AudioSilo server (v2.0 and later) and in the demo. The iPhone, iPad and Android apps get the same redesign in their 2.0 update, in beta now.

The Stormlight Archive on an iPad: the books you own as spines in reading order, the five you are missing as dashed ghost spines with their real titles
Home on a phone: Mark of the Fool 3 with its chapter, a seek bar with bookmark pins, 45% through, time left at 1.3x and the day you will finish, and Resume

Home and library

A bookcase for the whole house.

Home opens on the book you're on, tinted with its cover: the chapter, the time left at your speed and the day you'll finish at your pace. A series is a row of spines in reading order, and with community metadata on, the books you don't have stand among them as dashed ghosts with their real titles.

  • Smart shelves: Finish what you started, Short listens under 5 h, Added this week
  • Browse by book, author, series, narrator, collection or folder
  • Publication, chronological or recommended order, where the community knows them
  • Search finds characters too, but only the ones you have already met
The Characters tab for Mark of the Fool 3 on a phone: only the people already met, each with the chapter they first appear in

The book page

Who's who, without the spoilers.

When listeners have written characters and recaps for a book, they appear on its page and beside the player, gated by your position. Anything past where you are is counted, not shown: "16 hidden to avoid spoilers". The whole-book summary waits behind a tap until you finish.

Away for twelve days or more? Previously on picks up where you were and offers to resume with 30 seconds of overlap.

Characters and recaps cover a growing number of books, about 3,000 so far. Where they come from

The full player on an iPad: the cover, the chapter seek bar with the whole-book timeline and bookmark pins under it, and Who's who alongside with two people Just met

The full player

A seek bar for 30-hour books.

The seek bar works within the chapter, so even a long book gives you fine control. Under it, a slim timeline of the whole book: chapters sized by length, bookmarks and notes pinned on. Jump more than a minute and a "Back to 17:26:50" chip offers the way home.

  • Speed from 0.5x to 2x in 0.05 steps, pitch-corrected and remembered per book
  • Time left at your speed everywhere, and the clock time the chapter ends
  • Sleep after minutes, a chapter or the book; minutes timers fade out over the last 30 seconds, and in the apps a shake restarts the timer
  • A "Fell asleep" bookmark, so you can jump back to where you drifted off
  • AirPlay, or the Cast picker, where your device offers it
The web player in a desktop browser: the library grid with the Up next drawer open, four books queued and the series to continue
The Journal on a phone: a diary of each day's listening, with Bookmarks and Notes tabs and Export

Up next, bookmarks, Journal

Up next, and everything you noted.

Up next is kept on your server, so the queue follows you from phone to laptop. Bookmarks carry labels (Quote, Favourite, Re-listen, Funny, Question) and notes pin a thought to a moment.

The Journal gathers them from every book on every server, with a diary of each day's listening, and exports to Markdown or CSV.

Your listening on a phone: 8h 49m this week, a 42-day streak, a daily average and a listening calendar
The first Year in listening card: maya's 2026 in listening, 116 hours, across 160 sessions and 13 books

You

Your listening, kept by your server.

Your week, your streak and a goal ring; a listening calendar, the hours of the day you listen, your top authors and narrators. At the end of the year, up to eight story cards, each one shareable as an image.

Nothing leaves your server unless you share a card.

Offline, servers, addresses

On the train, at home, away.

Download a book, or let the app keep the next ones ready from Up next and the series, always leaving storage free. It works in the web player too, over https. Progress made offline syncs when you're back, and a book never quietly restarts from zero.

Sign in to more than one server and Home, search and favourites merge them. The 2.0 apps for iPhone, iPad and Android (in beta now) switch between your server's home and public address on their own.

Free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. The redesign shown on this site reaches the App Store in the 2.0 update; the 2.0 beta is open to testers now.

Android

In beta

The Android app is in beta and not on Google Play yet. Ask on Discord to try it. Until then, the web player installs to your home screen like an app.

Try the demo (opens in a new tab)

Hear it for yourself.

The demo runs the same web player your server ships, with 29 public-domain classics to try it on, about 185 hours of listening: Oz, Sherlock Holmes and Anne of Green Gables among them.

No sign-up, nothing to install. It opens the real web player in a new tab.

Every book is matched to the community database: open a series to see the books you don't have as ghost spines, and most books have characters and recaps that only show what you've heard.
